Getting from Florence Campo di Marte Station to SMN

Hello-
Is there a quick way to get from the SMN station from the Campo di Marte station?

Waiting for the next regional train between the two stations. Second best, a taxi.

Thanks! Approx. how long does it take, either by regional train, or taxi?

The regional trains between the two are frequent, my memory is that it is about a 3 minute ride but the train comes in slowly so it is more like 5 or 10 minutes.

Oh, I just realised that you are going the other way - from SMN. Just a few minutes then - it comes in to Campo di Marte pretty fast.

It is really easy.

I don't know if a taxi would be any faster. Maybe slightly more frequent, but slower.

By train is probably fastest. By taxi is a 10 min. drive. By bus (no. 12) probably 20 min. Or you can walk (probably 30 min). A bike would be the fastest all all.

Thanks for the info, all. We will have our carry on luggage, so a bike is out! I just seem to be having trouble finding a train schedule between stations, or are they just so frequent I don't need to worry?

Lisa,

"Is there a quick way to get from the SMN station from the Campo di Marte station? "

I'm not clear on your question - which direction are you travelling and why do you need to use Firenze Campo di Marte? In any case, as the others have mentioned it's very easy to get from one station to the other as there are numerous Regionale trains. Travel time is 6-8 minutes and the current fare listed is €1.50 PP.

There could be good reasons to transfer to Campo di Marte. For example, all direct services between Florence and Verona/Bolzano stop only at Campo di Marte.

Very easy, I did it coming from Verona 10 days ago. Connection to campo was much better coming from the north. many connections for the 15 minute journey to SMN,Florence
Taking a taxi would make no sense.

Oops, my typo-sorry! What I meant was I need to get TO Santa Maria Novella FROM Campo di Marte. The train from Bolzano uses Campo di Marti, and we booked a separate trip to Vernazza which originates at SMN. For some reason RailEurope wouldn't show me trips from Bolzano to Vernazza so I booked 2 separate trips!

RailEurope wouldn't show you what you want because it knows you are looking here and will get the truth not RailEurope drivel.

They only show you a portion of what is available, they needlessly mark up the prices and - other than a few people on here and people who toe the company line - generally are not held highly here.

Use the real companies who actually run the trains, not a third party middleman who only profits due to people not knowing where to go.

For the easiest and quickest view of what trains are available, learn to use the Bahn, the German national railway whose website, once you drill down, is absolutely heaving with fantastic detail.

When you are ready to get a ticket use Trenitalia for most trains in Italy - ask here for exceptions - or if you have trouble with them (they take a bit of getting used to) Capitaintrain is now selling Italian tickets.

It really is easy....

Thanks for that info, Nigel! I did have excellent results using the Bahn website.

American living in Florence here. Campo di Marte is a commuter station and trains run every 5-15 minutes, with more trains during rush hours. It is a better option than taking a taxi, due to traffic/one way streets/all of the road construction that has cropped up in the past few days. You can buy a ticket at the counter and kiosk, it should be very inexpensive (just remember to validate using the machines on the wall). You should also be able to buy on the Trenitalia site and print out the PDF. Sometimes the train from Campo di Marte arrives on the track (binario) in a different wing of the station so be sure to allow enough time in SMN to get to your train.

Just observing that a validated ATAF (urban bus) ticket is good also for train travel between all stations in the municipality of Florence.
