I'm getting mixed messages on how to get from the Da Vinci Airport to Malatesta Station-maybe because
of the uncertainties around completion pf the Metro C Line? A friend is giving me the following: "From Fiumicino Airport, take the train towards Tuscolana. From Tuscolana Station, take the Metro C line towards Piazza Lodi and get off at the second stop, Malatesta."
However, several on-line references talk about using Metro A from Tuscolana Station and then switching to Metro C and another
suggests taking Metro A from Tuscolana Station and then switching to Metro B (which makes no sense). I'm officially confused. Has anyone out there made this trip who can set me straight?? Thanks in advance, Dave and Ying-Lan in Reno
I suspect part of the problem is that there is no easy clean way to get where you want to go, that does not include some changes.
I see two ways to get to Malatesta Metro station from FCO.
First, there are only two trains that leave from FCO, the Leonardo Express, which goes directly to Termini station with no stops, and the FL1 Regional train, that makes lots of stops, does not go to Termini, but does stop at Roma Tuscalona. There are also buses with various routes, but let's stick to trains and Metro.
Choose one or the other to get into Rome, then take it from there.
From Termini, you could get on Metro Line A, head South and get off at San Giovanni stop (3 stops) and switch to Metro Line C, and take that to Malatesta (3 stops).
Using the FL1 train, take that to Roma Tuscalona, exit the station, and find the Ponte Lungo Metro line A station (a block or more away), Take that and get off at San Giovanni stop (2 stops) and switch to Metro Line C, and take that to Malatesta Station (3 stops).
Metro line C does not really go close to Tuscalona station, or Termini.
The first option would be a bit quicker, but cost 8-10 euro more.
