Getting Euros in London?

I will be arriving at the Pisa airport and quickly trying to make bus and train connections to Lucca in time for a concert. I am worried about finding an ATM at the airport. I will be in London for a few days prior to flying to Italy.
Are there ATM's in London that supply euros?
Should I get what I will need that first night in the US?

Just buy some in the US before you leave. About $100-200 worth and you'll be all set.

There are ATMs in London from Raphael Bank which dispense both Pounds Sterling and Euro.

What the rate is from dollars, I don't know.

If you pre-order online and collect from a specialist bureau de change, the cost exchanging pounds for euros is about 1 cent per pound below a representative inter bank rate. ICE offer this at the Heathrow Terminals 1-2-3 Underground Station, but also from Waterloo. Other providers available. You don't need to pay up front; do so on collection in cash.

Don't just turn up though - the rates will be much worse.

All ATMs dispensing euros on a dollar-denominated card are likely to involve DCC.

Maybe a dollar card would attract the DCC offer, but my experience using the Raphael atm at St Pancras is if I put my £ denominated card in it will give me pound sterling with no hassle or offer.

If I use my € denominated card to obtain euro it pops out euro like billy-o with no DCC offer.

Yes, with the Raphaels Bank ATMs there is no charge for dispensing the currency of the card, and DCC is sometimes declinable using a £ card into €. $ into € may be one step too far.

Incidentally Raphaels and ICE are owned by the same holding company.
