Getting there easy, cab. Getting back not so sure. Is there a cab stand there? I don't see one on Google maps overhead view.
Want to avoid bus

Looks like from google maps that there's a taxi location there (and a few reviews also). Here's the link.
There is a taxi rank at the far corner of the arc - Taxi posteggio Michelangelo - but I can't guarantee there won't be a line of 3,000 people in front of you if you're trying to get out right after sunset.
Good luck!

Thanks. I
You phone 055-4798 or 055-4242 or 055-4390 and you summon a taxi.
Or walk! That's what we did, stopping for lunch along the way.

That "link" produces a view of Mariner High School and Paine Field area
It’s downhill, so walking might be possible.
You haven’t stated where your final destination is, though, so we have a hard time really helping.
Something is weird about Kristian’s link. The map showed my local area in Reno/Sparks.
I will be at Hotel Unicorno. Looks to be about a 30 minute walk. I can do that. Downhill will help.
It's a beautiful stroll downhill from the Piazzale, so if you're OK with a 30-min walk, you can see the river for most of the way, take a meander and enjoy!
Agree, if mobility is not a challenge I would walk! There are nice views all the way down which is a bonus. And then you could take a nice stroll along the Arno, or call a taxi down at the bottom if your hotel is far.
