Getting around Cortona with no car

We are staying in Castiglion Fiorentino which is close to Cortona. We won't have a car and I am looking for advice on how to travel between these two towns. Thank you.

Linda,
We stayed in Cortona twice, once with a car and once without. The buses were efficient and clean and they departed from the main lot to the south of the magnificent town. The parking lots (if you change your mind and rented a car) were safe and actually had many free spots available ( a rarity in the towns we visited). Having a car gives you the options of day trips without the hassle of a time schedule, so it is your decision. But in Cortona, there are many great spots to just walk and enjoy, including the saturday market just north of the Piazza Republica. Just bring comfortable supportive walking shoes, Cortona is a very steep hilltown with only one road that is flat. Just in case you decide to stay in town, we stayed in Hotel Italia the first time and San Michele the second time. I would go back to San Michele in a heartbeat, the old palace was magnificent, breakfast was unbelievably fresh and the prices were very good, but we did pay in advance. San Michele also has a place outside of town and you they bus you there and the grounds/pool look spectacular. We just ran out of time or else we would have gone there also. Enjoy
