Getting around Amalfi coast towns (including Sorrento and Capri)

I need some help!!
What is the easiest and most cost-effective way to get around from town to town around Sorrento-Amalfi-Positano area.
I am looking to make "home base" in Sorrento and every day go to a new town. I am not against getting a driver but it seems to be very expensive. Does the ferry (hydrofoil?) from town to town run in late May?
I was also told to maybe stay in Positano or a town actually in the Amalfi coast, how can you get town to town easiest if you stay in that area?
Any tips are helpful!!! (restaurant, things to do, etc.)
Thank you!!

Buses from Sorrento to Amalfi stop in Positano. In Positano get off at the second stop at the bottom of town, otherwise it's a long steep walk down to the town center. There's also ferry service that stops in both Positano and Amalfi, and it should be running in late May. Buses run more frequently, but you get different views from bus and ferry. You might want to use a combination of the two to get the best of both worlds. Hydrofoil is the best option from Sorrento to Capri (imo).

Sorrento is a good location for ferries to Capri, and has cheap commuter train service to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples: a plus as far as we were concerned. It's also larger and felt less high-end touristy than Positano to me but I know it has its fans here.

I would stay on the Amalfi Coast if planning to go to a different town there every day.
There are buses and ferries that connect many places along the coast.

You don't mention Pompeii. If you are not planning a day trip there, stay on the Amalfi Coast.
Provide your arrival and departure specifics for more transit tips.

Steff, you've received some very good info on your previous post. https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/italy/amalfi-coast-for-5-days-where-to-set-base-from

Kathy has added bus and ferry schedules on this one.

If you plan on 2 locations, Sorrento and Amalfi are both transportation hubs.

Start in Sorrento visit places easily accessible from there. Pompeii, Naples or Capri. (Leaving Capri for your last day if you want to spend the night.). If you decide to do that, you could then ferry to Amalfi. Visiting Amalfi, Ravello, Minori, Maiori and Vietri Sul Mare. Ferry schedule for this side of the Amalfi Coast.

Then as you're leaving, ferry to Salerno to take the train to your next destination.
