Has anyone had experience with getting a TIM card for an unlocked cell phone prior to traveling to Italy? I'm a bit weirded out by the idea of sending a copy of my passport to them in order to register the phone. Normal? I would prefer to have the number prior to leaving. Any thoughts would be helpful.
I realize I can get it there once we land but any thoughts now would be helpful. Thanks!
I did that last year. It supposedly came with 5 euros credit. When I tried to activate it as per the directions I kept getting messages on my Blackberry in Italian. Fortunately the staff at our hotel helped me out with translation. The message was that I was out of minutes, go figure. I went to tobacco shop and got a 20 euro card and it worked fine after that, just had to follow the written instructions I had to get help in English. Maybe next time I would just do it once I got over there. Good luck
