getting 8 people from Fiumicino airport to Rome

What is the best way for a group of 8 (6 adults, 2 kids) to get from the airport to our hotel near the Spanish Steps? We will have carry-ons only. My wife and I made the trip before and the cab we took barely had room enough for the 2 of us and our luggage, so I don't want our group to be broken up amongst multiple cabs. I have heard that the walk to the train at Fiumicino can be long. Are there limo services where all 8 can fit in 1 van?

If you are staying in a hotel, the hotel can arrange for a private van for you. If you are renting an apartment, then you can get one of the van services that will be right there in the terminal "hawking" their services. Your group alone will fill up the van, so negotiate price. They usually charge eu20 per person, and they stop at each individual's hotel. In your case, it will be
only one stop. A cab is eu50...so, if you need 3 that will be EU150! I'll bet if you offer one of the hawkers EU100 they'll take you! JMO

Contact Rome cabs and see what they offer. I don't think of the airport walk as overly long but it is a bit of a hike from where the Leonard Express stops in Termini to the front of the station. You would still have to take a taxi from Termini to your hotel.

Linda is correct. For three cabs it would be 120E plus tip. IF you are truly doing carry on only you might be able to fit 4 in cab with some luggage on your lap. We were party of 4 (two sons) and did that sometimes. A bit uncomfortable but if the time is short not too bad. Some of the cabs are a little large and the starter will select a big cab if requested. Don't use someone who just walks up to you and offers you a ride.

It is a bit of a walk to the train but not that bad, you'll be walking all over Rome anyway why not start early. . The Leonardo Express train is 14 € takes about half an hour to transport you to Rome's main station, Roma Termini and in the station is the Metro which runs directly to the Spanish Steps (A Line stop:Spagna) More tips here
