Get your Guide and Viator Transport

I am seeking information regarding transport from Marco Polo airport to our hotel Hotel Commercio & Pellegrino. I googled this and got Get Your Guide and Viator transport. They are about 45 euros per person. It will not break my bank but I want to explore other options.
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. TIA

Get Your Guide and Viator are both third party resellers that don’t actually provide the transportation so not sure what you are paying for or what sort of transpo this is

You can do it yourself for a lot cheaper or a lot more expensive
Take direct bus from airport to Piazalle Roma then vaporetto to your hotel
OR
Alilaguna boats
OR
private water taxi - most expensive, probably around 100 euros ) not much more than 45 x2)

Also look on booking.com. They have transportation options from airports to hotels.

Just for reference, a one way ticket on Alilaguna (the water bus from the airport) is 15€
https://www.alilaguna.it/en/product-type/one-way-tickets

The bus trip from the airport to Piazzale Roma is 8€ each way. From there, you would take a vaporetto. A single vaporetto ticket is 8€, or you can get a 24 hour pass for 20€.

I’m really curious what is offered in their service that adds an additional 30€ per person. I doubt that they are providing private taxi transport for that price.

hey hey lorie
stay away from getyourguide.com and viator.com for transportation from airport. they are third party resellers as Christine H
mentions.
a few other ways are:
venicelink.com
alilaguna is a slow boat to city center train station, carry you bags, hopefully not heavy, and sit with dirty salty window, many people getting on. cheapest, you need to take it all the way to "ferry stop" san zaccaria and have directions to your hotel
venice shuttle:
private water taxi that is shared for about 35E+, may have to wait at airport hall terminal for 15-45 minutes until others get on. the drivers help you put your luggage on and no need to worry after that and help you off when you arrive at stop. some of these water taxis take you as close to your place as possible.
motoscafivenezia.it
change to english, most expensive 120E for up to ten people is this fabulous fast motor boat. best way to get into venice to where you are staying. we have used this 4 times, and have just added it into our vacation budget and split it amongst friends.
there are also buses from the airport to piazzale roma, end of line. then a vaporetto or water taxi to your place. if your first time you will need a good map, walking on uneven cobblestones, steps/stairs over many bridges, getting lost within the alleyways which always happens but not to stress out the first time there. it's your decision what you want to do and what priorities means to you
europeforvisitors.com
read about venice and what to expect look for. it's a fabulous place, been 3 times and one of my favorites. any more questions just ask, people here on forum will give you good bad and ugly.

Hi,
I’ve just looked up your hotel, and it is almost right in front of a boat stop for the Alilaguna “B” line boat from the airport.
You would get off the SAN Zaccaria “E” stop and walk straight into the little street where your hotel is.
A 3 minute walk!
It’s not a great ride as the passengers are in the cabin below the water line, and they don’t allow anyone on deck, you have to stay in your seat.
This is your most convenient way to your hotel....and no bridges to carry your luggage over!
Check with the hotel to confirm what I’m telling you.
You can buy your tickets in the airport right after baggage claim, then you walk down a long hallway to the boat stops to get yours.
There are staff at the docks to help you.
Use the restroom before you walk down to wait for your boat....you may have to wait for a space on board if a lot of people are waiting too.
Look up Alilaguna....it’s not the same as the regular vaporetto “bus” boats of Venice.
Great hotel location...good choice!

Hi and thank you for the information.

SJ from Canada do you know how long (time wise) is the ride from the Airport to the E stop?
Also should I purchase in advance?
Thank you,

Your hotel has a "Location" page on its website.

What it says is:

Taking the ALILAGUNA shuttle service from the airport pier, which reaches San Zaccaria in about an hour. The stop is just steps from the Calle delle Rasse.

i've never known anybody to purchase Alilaguna tickets in advance. There is a booth in the airport, after immigration and customs and before the exit. It is very hard to miss...

It appears your 2 best options/least hassle are Alilaguna or water taxi
We took the Alilaguna on our first visit and we were allowed to stand outside- that was in 2014 and the ride was not nearly bad as some here report.
A private water taxi will be about 100 euros, as I noted above not much more than you were willing to spend thru Viator, etc. and it is a fabulous way to enter Venice
There is also option of a shared water taxi but that might mean a longer ride as drop offs for others are unpredictable.
Here is water taxi official site

There is no advantage to buying an Alilaguna ticket in advance.
The tickets are not for reserved times, you just line up and get on the next boat with free space.
Just be sure to get on the "B" line not the "A" line as they go to different stops than yours.
