There seems to be little info available on Infiorat, a festival of flowers held at the beginning of summer every year to celebrate Corpus Domini. I saw an article on it in a gardening magazine in 2002 and it has been on my "Bucket List" ever since - looks amazing.
Can someone tell me how to get to Genzano from Rome - on a daily basis, and/or of some good cheap accomodation in the town.
I have never been to the infiorata, but I have been to Genzano di Roma many times. It is nice town with a lot of summer activities. To reach Genzano take the Appia Nuova in the direction of Albano Laziale, to Ariccia, to Genzano. It is about 1 hour south of Roma. It is also near Castelgandolfo where the Pope resides for the summer.
I usually stay at a nice b&b in Ariccia, which my friends found for me a few years ago. I can commute to Roma by driving to the metro station at Arco Travertino, parking, and then taking the train into Roma at the Stazione Termini.
Ariccia is famous for Porchetta Romana, which is roast pork packed in rosemary and salt. There are about 20 restaurants all with the same menu. In the summer all of these restaurants are JAMMED by 9:30 in the evening.
Buon viaggio,
RB
Many thanks for your help and advice RB but does that mean we need a car? - or can we get there by train/bus without it taking hours?
I always rent a car from AutoEurope. However, there is frequent bus transportation to and from Roma.
Buon viaggio,
RB
