Genoa, where to stay & is it worthwhile?

We will be staying in Cinque Terre. Our return flight leaves from Genoa. We thought it would be a good idea to spend our last night in Genoa to be near the airport. Does anyone have any recommendations for Genoa? Is it worth staying two nights in Genoa was so we can explore the city? Has anyone heard of the town of Camogli near Genoa? Would that be a better place to spend two nights?

I visit Genoa for work each year and stay in a really lovely suburb called Nervi. It is a little out of the city centre. I stay at the Villa Pagoda which fabulous. It has the best restaurant and I have been lucky enough twice to get a room that looks right out over the sea. Fantastic view to wake up to each morning. It does have a station quite near it so it's easy to get into Genoa proper if you need to. The old part of Genoa is great and really interesting but it is quite an industrial city so may not appeal on first look. I think you could fill 2 days there.

Not a ton of help, but my 2 cents--- I stayed one night in Genoa on the way home, after the CT. I wished I'd had a bit more time. We had a hotel right across from the train station and it was fabulous (sorry, can't remember the name, but it's catty corner from the station) We arrived late, just in time to check into the hotel and find a place to eat. I must say, the food was the BEST I've ever had in Italy. We just found a tiny resturant down the road from the hotel, walked in and ordered.

I think one night, 2 days is perfect for Genoa...grab a cab to the airport, it's not too far out of town.
