Genoa to Cinque Terre for a day

My daughter and I are ending a cruise in November in Genoa and have two nights in the area. Is it possible and/or feasible to travel from Genoa to Cinque Terre for a one day excursion and come back to Genoa at the end of the day? Would it make more sense to only visit Portofino for the day?

Robin, Yes, it would absolutely be possible to take a day trip to the Cinque Terre from Genova. The trip from Genova Piazza Principe is about 1H:15M to 1H:35M each way (that's for a trip to Monterosso, which is closest to Genova). Rather than seeing it as a day trip, have you considered perhaps staying there for couple of nights at the end of your cruise. The local businesses will be winding down for the season in November, so some lodgings will be closing. However, you should still be able to find a Hotel in Monterosso or Levanto. Happy travels!

Thank you so much Ken. I like the idea of staying in Monterosso for a couple of nights after the cruise and before having to fly back home. The Cinque Terre region is very high on my list of places to see. Have you done any of the walks/hikes in between the towns and if so, do you have a "high on your list" suggestion of a must do while in Cinque Terre?
