I can fly into the Genoa airport or the Pisa airport to arrive at the Cinque Terra on an overnight flight from the US. Similar arrival times -- about 11:40 am. Similar prices.
Which airport is the better choice for reaching Vernazza in the Cinque Terra by public transportation. Which route has the least hastle and the best time frames. I have tried sorting this out thru Trenitalia but cannot seem to fit all of the pieces together.

Pat, I took the train from Genoa, but it seems like Pisa could be a bit
faster if you could get on the 1pm train, but I don't know how
far the Pisa centrale station is from the airport. From Pisa Centrale
to Vernazza, you would change train in La Spezia, about 1:30 to 1:50
depending which train you make.
From Genoa airport you would take the volabus (6euros)
to the principe or brignole train station, than get on a train to
Vernazza, there is a no change train, but most of
them will require you to change in Monterosso.
Train will take from 1:45 to 2:00 depending which
one you take.

I'm having the same problem. I can't find info relating how to get to the Pisa Centrale Station from the airport.
Maybe Genoa is the better choice.

Pisa airport has a train station attached to it. Trains run every 30 minutes pretty much all day and night and take about 5 minutes to get to Pisa Centrale.
On trenitalia use Pisa Aeroporto as the departure station.

Pat, it looks like you can takethe train from
the airport to Vernazza, go to
www.trenitalia.com
put Pisa aeroporto and Vernazza,
there is a train pretty much every hour, it takes
around 1:45 to 2:00 hours, changes in Pisa
Centrale and La Spezia.

Thank you to everyone who has helped with my question. My comfort level is much better now regarding Pisa.
I wanted to make my airline reservations asap and these have guided my decision .
