Genoa Map

We are flying into Genoa in September, but want to stay in a town outside of Genoa called "Celle Ligore". From Celle we are heading to The Cinque Terre. I can't find a map in any of my RS books letting me know where Celle Liqore is compared to Genoa: ie, is it north or south of Genoa. We will be tracing family roots in Celle and then heading to Cinque Terre area via the railroad. My objective for Celle is finding a hotel not too far from Genoa and definitely nearby to the city of Celle and the train route. Has any one been in this area and have an answer for me. Thanks.

May not be of much help. Was there 40 years ago. It's about 25 miles south west of Genoa. If you search the airbnb website you'll find a number of places to stay in both Celle Liqore and Genoa. Trains can be found from Genoa to La Speiza and Levanto. Beautiful part of Italy. Enjoy the journey.

Thanks for your information. With the help of another person on this web site, I chose a hotel in Celle after looking at a map site he suggested. I love this website, so many knowledgable people. Thanks everyone.

Carole, I have many relatives in the Liguria area and it is always so rewarding (and exhausting!) going to visit them. I have also helped my American cousin trace her family roots, going from city hall to city hall looking up names in big, dusty record books. So cool. It helps to know some Italian but even if you don't you should try. Write down as much info as you have before you go over. Enjoy the journey and good luck!

Carole, I think what was messing you up was that you were misspelling it. As noted in that link, it's Celle Ligure. Happy travels.

All the comments and info is very happily accepted. Our knowledge of italian is very small but we will manage. I am not really concerned about anything except the train travel - especially from Venice to Rome. That seems to be a long journey and we are still debating using the train or a short flight. Our daughter is concerned about our train travel because of having to tote our own luggage (we are 73 and 79) but we think we have that under control by taking a minimal amount of clothing and light weight luggage. Once again, thanks for all the input and I promise to help others when we return who might have some of these same questions.
