Genoa in early December after recent floods

We were planning a week in genoa early December. Has anyone any advice about travelling there given recent flooding or should we choose an alternative?
Many thanks,
Kathryn

I am not sure why you would spend a whole week in Genoa, notwithstanding the flood. I love Liguria, but a week in December even in Genoa might be a challenge. Have you identified what to do to fill those days? I can think of a lot of places to spend a week in Italy, and that is not one for the winter, especially....What do you like to do?

Hi laurel, thank you for your advice. Where would you suggest to spend a week. We are heading to Toulouse after that week.
Thanks again, Kathryn

Kathryn,
Where will you be prior to your planned stay in Genoa? I see you are on a route to Toulouse, but from where? Are you museum people? Skiers? What draws you to Europe in December?
That will help me, and others, help you.

Hi laurel we are coming from Bologna then Milan. We are art, food and cycling lovers. Europe in winter because it's our long summer break here in Australia so the only time that we have the time to travel to Europe . Actually we love it in that season. Thanks for your comments, Kathryn

Torino is nice, although I am not sure about a whole week. We enjoyed a weekend there. You could go into the Piemonte for some winter activities, food and wine. We enjoy winter hiking in the Dolomites. Maybe the PIemonte region has the same thing in/near ski resorts.

kathryn,

I would also suggest that a week in Genova is a bit excessive. Although I'm sure the city is "functioning" again after the floods, I doubt there would be enough sightseeing opportunities to keep you busy for a week, especially in December.

Will you be visiting Florence at all? That would be a good possibility between Bologna and Milan. Verona is another possibility for a couple of days.
