General Audience-Vatican

Hi everyone-thanks for this great exchange as I've gotten terrific advice for our upcoming trip. I would like to know what time the Papal general audience begins and ends. We are lucky enough that we'll be in Rome when this is scheduled and would like to tie it into a Vatican tour if possible. Any suggstions?

Usually begins around 10:30 AM and ends near 12 noon - often running as late as 12:30 - 12:45 PM.

They just put the "covered stage" back out on Friday (9/19) and started cleaning the stairs so I would imagine the Pope will be doing "outside" audiences for the next few weeks as long as the weather stays warm.

I would be careful to tie into a tour on a Wednesday as usually the Museum is packed after everyone sees the Pope. Come on a different day and it will be less crowded (Tues or Thurs). Rome is easy to get around so it would be very easy for you to return!

Ciao,
Ron

Thanks Ron! We have the SCAVI tour booked for Thurs so maybe we'll do the tour then rather than Wed. Great advice-thanks again.

When we went to the Papal audience we had to have tickets but it was in the auditorium - September and a beautiful day. Tickets were free but we had to get them from a catholic church and I have forgotten the name. We reserved them on the internet and picked them up the night before. They made great souvenirs because nobody asked for them and we had front row seats. We came about a half hour before the audience and dicovered they were seating from back to front.
