My husband and I, together with four older teens, are looking for a small town in Emilia Romagna to base ourselevs for a week in July. We want to be reasonably close to one of the foodie centres: Bologna, Modena or Parma. Could anyone recommend a good district or town. We are all looking for an authentic Italian experience. Any recommendations of B&B with pool would be great. Thanks
Hi. We will definitely have a car. We are open to small hotel, B&B in someone's home or staying on an agritourismo. I am a real foodie and want to make the most of this region. All the others are keen on good food too. Having a warm, friendly town nearby would be great, to stroll to in the evenings. We have never visited this region so really appreciate any insights. Thanks
With car or without? And, by a B&B, do you mean an agriturismo or would a small hotel with breakfast do?
We stayed in a small hotel about 3 km from Parma on the Via Emiglia. It has a swimming pool with a restaurant and great food. Big patio too. With a car it was great because parking was free and we didn't have to deal with urban traffic. It was easy to explore Parma, Modena and Bologna (and Verona!) from there. In the small town down the road, San Prospero, we found another great local restaurant where we seemed to be the first Americans to have ever visited.
Here's a link to the Hotel Dell'Oca through Parma's tourist office:
Thanks Doug,
Sounds great... will check it out. Kind regards, Gillian
