So where do I go to find some really good Gelato during the winter months particularly in the first of January in Venice Italy..?
Grom anywhere in Italy, actually. They're an artisanal gelato chain. Really, really good.
Thanks a lot! Anything else you can recommend for Venice?
Grom on Campo San Barnaba'.
I second Michael's recommendation.
I'd recommend getting the Rick Steves Venice book as well as the Eyewitness Travel Guide book for Venice. They're very different and complement each other well. That way you can decide for yourself what sounds interesting. Happy travels.
I was in Italy in February a couple of years ago and the weather in the north was pretty chilly and wet. Everyone was eating gelato - Venice, Verona, Florence, Ravenna, even in the rain. Lots of places selling it everywhere. In Rome, I could hardly find a gelateria that was open! And the gelati weren't that good either. IMHO.
Suso Gelatoteca! In other areas of Italy, I have seen gelaterias make crepes in the winter and spread them with generous amounts of nutella. Sometimes nice to have a warm treat on a cold day. But gelato is hard to beat!
