Thanks for the info Kathy. I see the dates you listed but I guess what is confusing me is the listing of the finals of this festival to be in Florence during September.

I'll keep digging, Paul, but I've a hunch that the Sept. dates you're seeing were from 2017 and the festival's website hasn't been fully updated yet. The text regarding voting (below) is outdated, anyway, and I'm seeing the Sept 14-17 dates corresponding to press pieces from last year (2nd below) as well as "Past Events" on the fest's FB page.

There also isn't anything showing for Sept. on their FB upcoming events page, which is public; you don't have to be a FB member to see it.

As it's possible that they don't have all 2018 locations/dates set yet, I'd just keep an eye on the FB events page + festival website for any further developments. We bought our tickets at the fest itself - as we'd stumbling into it - and there were posters all over Florence stating locations, dates, etc.

My understanding of this Gelato Festival is that one of the 2018 semi-final events will be held in Florence on April 20 - 22, 2018. We'll be in Florence that weekend and would love to attend! Last year, the Finalists from the contest gathered in Florence in Sept 2017 and that's where the winner was crowned. So the city hosted the Gelato Festival on two different occasions last year.

I didn't see any additional information on whether or not the 2018 Finalists would be in Florence again this year or if if they would be going to another city.
