Gargano National Park

Webmaster - I tried a Search and an Advance Search on the Gargano National Park as you recommended and was unable to get any information which is hard for me to believe...so I must have done something wrong....I'll try my question here....where is the best town to stay in to enjoy the park and how do we find an interesting place to stay at a modest price e.g. B&B/ Apts???...or where Rick Steves stay??? Thank you for your help....Shelly

Shelly,

This is a fairly easy solution. Have a look at This Website for some information on Parco Nazionale del Gargano.

For a "home base" location, you might consider the charming town of Vieste. It's a beautiful smaller town and while there you can have a look at the Trabucchi, which are quite an "interesting" method for fishing. There are Cave tours offered there also (by boat).

Regarding Hotels you might have a look at This Hotel in Vieste (be sure to watch the video - I really like the music!). There's no parking available at the Hotel (you'll see the reason when you get there), but there are car parks nearby as I recall, and walking to the Hotel isn't a big problem (but of course, PACK LIGHT).

Hope this helps?

Happy travels!

Shelly, not sure the webmaster is going to jump on this, but for what it's worth, I've stayed in the Manfredi which runs about a hundred bucks a night. Kind of modernly antiseptic, but it's only a mile or so from Manfredonia which seems to have more going for it than the other towns in the park area. I'm pretty sure you'll need a car to get around the area.
