Gardens in Rome

Hi everyone,

I will be in Rome for 5 nights at the end of May - early June. I have my sightseeing schedule almost complete but would like suggestions of public gardens (or particularly green piazzas) around the city for breaks during the days or early evenings. I'm already scheduled to visit the Galleria Borghese, so will explore the Villa Borghese Gardens.

I'll be staying in Trastevere, so any gardens on that side of the river would be great, too.

Thanks in advance!

Sharon

There is a rose garden on the Aventine Hill, and further up a small park with great views of Roma.

Oooh, yes! The rose garden on the Aventine - Roseto Comunale - will be in bloom, and you'll get an interesting eyeful of the Palatine from there. The other garden that Zoe mentioned - Giardino Degli Aranci - is further up the hill, next to lovely old Santa Sabina (a must do!!!) and offers another terrific view of Rome.
