Gardaland with teens

We're planning our trip to Italy for next spring with our two boys, ages 12 and 15. We're wondering about stopping at Gardaland sometime during the trip to give the boys a break from sightseeing and give them some excitement. Can anyone tell me a little about the place? Would you compare it to Disneyworld or a smaller scaled amusement park? Any knowledge of prices for the park or suggestions for where to stay in the area? We'll be in Italy for 3-4 weeks and are trying to stay mostly in apartments to cut down on eating out costs.

My husband and I went to Gardaland a couple years ago. We had fun. It wasn't compareable to Disneyland. More like a smaller regional 6 flags or knoxberry farms. There are a lot of fun kids things to do in the Garda area. We've also been to the Parco Giardino Sigurtà. It was beautiful. My friends LOVE medieval times. They swear it is better than the ones in the USA (i think it is the unlimited wine that makes them say that). Here is a link to a site that has links to all the big sites in the Garda area. http://www.lakegarda.com/parks-and-entertainment.php
I like the town of Sirmone for somewhere to stay near all the sites. It has a great castle and a nice relaxing vibe.

Cindy, the area is breathtaking.Don't miss it.We were there with three kids ages 9-11,it was winter and still had a blast.Gardaland is a pretty good immitation of a Disney World. We spent 2 days and didn't regret a minute of it.On the first day we drove around the lake and stoped along the way for lunch, pictures etc.It is a pretty big lake, surrounded by small picturesque towns, full of cozy little restaurants and hotels.Ended up taking the evening stroll in Sirmione. The second day went to Gardaland. Many of the rides were closed(winter),still a lot to do for the kids.As far as the prices of addmision,i would say around 50$ per person.Don't know exactly because my brother paid for it.He lives in the area, and that's the reason i can not recomend a hotel or apartment, but try this web site:www.lagodigarda.it.I'm sure you will find a lot of information there.Have a blast.
