At the suggestion of Rick Steves we engaged a private tour of Pompeii with Gaetano Manfredi. Less costly than college tuition but possibly more valuable than a degree, it was a bargain.
Our individualized tour of Pompeii with Gaetano was exquisite but short. Far too short. We could have easily spent three more weeks with Gaetano.
His scholarly knowledge of the ruins, the supplementary background details & his professional manner & delivery are unequaled.
Even allowing for our previous biases, attractions & inclinations to “old things”, Gaetano’s passion, pride & love of Pompeii is evident.
