G7 in Lucca

Hello,

We have planned a trip of 6 nights to Lucca, arriving on April 9. Just found out there will be a meeting of the G7 foreign ministers April 10 and 11 and some areas of Lucca will be restricted, though I am not sure to what extent. We are staying just south of Piazza San Michele, near the intersection of Via Pozzotorelli and Via Pescheria. Any locals there who could tell me if we will have trouble getting to and from the apartment? We plan to take day trips from Lucca. Thanks for any insight you can give me!

Cars are not allowed at all, not even residents, during the period 4/9-4/11.
Authorized individuals on foot (residents and guests) will be given a pass by the City. You need to contact your landlord to make sure they get that pass for you or inquire how to get it. Your apartment is 200 feet from the palace where the foreign ministers and US Secretary of State meet, therefore you are likely inside the perimeter.

I wish these meetings occurred inside military bases. They cause so much disruptions to the ordinary people who live in or visit these places.

edit: I find articles that seem to indicate that your apartment is almost certainly inside the off limits perimeter. You will need a pass to access your apartment on foot. It must be obtained from the City by residents and hotels for their guests. In your case, since you are staying in a private apartment, it should be your landlord to get it for you. Contact your landlord.
