Fusina Terminal, Venice parking

Has anyone parked at Fusina Terminal and taken the ferry to Venice? How safe is parking at Fusina? Does anyone how likely it is that the Maestra or island lots, or Fusina, will be full? How likely is it to hit traffic if we drive the causeway? We arrive Thursday Aug 1st late in the afternoon and depart on Sunday Aug 4th. Thanks,
Beth

Never parked there but would imagine it to be as safe as anywhere else. You may want to consider parking at Marco Polo airport and taking the bus into Piazzale Roma. Last I saw (Feb 2012) it was 5 euro a day to park and 4/5 euro for the bus. Bus takes about 20 mins. The lots will be much more expensive. As far as leaving the car, just don't leave anything tempting looking inside and I think you would be fine.

Thanks Ron. Searching the helpline I only found one mention of Fusina, so maybe that lot never fills up! I am worried about traffic jams in Maestre and have read of huge crowds and delays driving over the causeway and speeding tickets! Rush hour traffic plus it is the day when "all of Europe" goes on vacation :-) The airport may work, we are coming on the A4 from Castelrotto via Lake Garda, so Fusina may allow us to bypass traffic. The ferry from there is only once an hour so it may take as much time as driving to Tronchetto. Thanks also for the security tips, we are planning to pare down for Venice and leave one bag in the car, taking only one of our carry ons and our day packs for those nights. Regards,
Beth
