Further dPLF Issue

We are flying to Venice on 21st September and have completed dPLFs for the journey - correctly as far as I know. The forms were submitted a week ago but remain in 'Submitted' status on the system. The user guide seems to refer to 'Pending' and 'Approved' stages. With just six days before we due to depart, worry will soon turn to panic. Does anyone know if this is normal i.e. does approval happen very late? Alternatively, can we turn up at the airport with the form in 'Submitted' status?
Grateful for any help.

Our experience was that we received our QR codes within seconds of submitting the form.

Thanks Michael. We also received a QR code after submitting the form. Our query is that the accompanying document says 'Submitted' and we assumed that was also built in to the QR code. Do we need another notification when the status changes to 'Approved'? Reading between the lines of various comments on the internet (nothing seems to spell it out clearly - including the user manual), we're now thinking that it is only when the document is scanned that it goes to 'Approved' i.e. we're OK now. If anyone would like to confirm that this is their experience, it would ease our minds further.

I checked my email and my status is ‘submitted.’ They thanked me for submitting the form and told me to carry it with me either electronically or they sent me a link to print it out-which I did. I don’t think that they would’ve sent the link if I wasn’t good to go. The Delta agent at check in is the only person who looked at the form.

Hope you have a safe and rewarding journey.

Thank you to Michael and tdw. Our nerves are pretty well calmed now and we're looking forward to our trip. It seems to me that a few extra words in the user manual regarding the meanings of the PLF status, their timing and any action required would have been useful. Then again, maybe I'm the only worrier!

If it helps, no one will look at the forms in detail or scan the QR code.

Either your airline will have you load te forms into their system, or they will ask if you have them at boarding (or check-in) with your negative test result.

No one in Italy will ask for them. (OK, It is possible they could do a spot check, but reports are so far that they are not)

Well, they take it seriously to the point that you must have them. In the official announcement, they delegated "enforcement" for both the ePLF and Covid test to the airline, so it should be checked just like they check your passport before boarding. The ePLF really is just a declaration of your movement, in the event you or someone on a flight tests positive, then they can do contact tracing. It serves no purpose while in Italy, and even your covid test is of no importance, once you are there, since it is outside their internal 48 hour window likely.

Similar to when you are in Italy, at various places you may be asked to write down your name and email, or register...that is just for contact tracing.

We have been in Italy since September 8. Delta scanned Covid results when boarding. Didn’t look at PLF. Haven’t had to show them since we arrived, but I guess you never know. We have had to show our CDC vaccine cards several times. No problems with having them accepted

Yeah, Delta basically just mentioned "and you need an ePLF" after looking at our Covid tests...but they did not examine them, or even verify that my name matched the form, I just held them up and said "yeah, got them".

The only penalty would come in the event of Italy having to do contract tracing and you were on the flight, but did not file a form.

From what I can tell it’s all about having the info on record in case of need for contact tracing. It is not he friendliest system (& translation probably doesn’t help). But I agree that it’s good they are taking things seriously.

Thanks for all the recent replies. Very useful. Interesting to know that Italy border authorities don't check PLFs, leaving it to the carrier. After arriving in Venice by air, we will transfer to a ship, leave Italy and then return to Italy (Rome). Presumably, as long as the cruise staff are happy with our covid status, we will not need to present a new PLF in Rome.
