fungi packs

In July I visited Auronzo de Cadore, a small town in the eastern Dolomites in Italy. While there I saw a "fungi sack" in a store. It was basically a canvas frame backpack with a mesh bottom and some outer pockets. I thought it would make a fabulous gift for my son-in-law, an avid mushroom hunter.

I wrote down the brand of the 2 different ones I saw: Lo Scricciolo and Patton. When I returned to the states I intended to order one; however, I am unable to find either brand on the internet nor could I find anything similar. Does anyone have any ideas?

You can order them from Italy, but the shipping may be horrendous.

The operative word in Italian is Zaino di Fungi. Basically it is a basket inside a backpack. Most mushroom collectors in the US just use a basket with handle. The basket provides proper air circulation.

Thanks so much for your replay to what is, no doubt, an odd question. I will check into it!

Odd question? My gosh, it seems all I ever read about on this forum is fungi packs, fungi packs, fungi packs!
