Fun for the Family Museum in Siracusa

I just got my RS Sicily book. Glad to have it for my 2nd trip to Ortigia - which I fell in love with last June! There is something missing though in the "Sights in Siracusa" section - the Archimedes museum! Its very close to the Neapolis Achaeological Park but I remember the signs being pretty non-descript. My attitude was 'how bad could it be; I'm out and it's right here; oh what the heck.' WELL, was I in for a surprise. I think the entrance is 6 euro and you get a guide. They start with a very well done video about Archimedes and his inventions. Then the guide takes you around (it's all outdoors) to see scale models of many inventions. He shows you how they work and then invites you do try it yourself. A 'please touch' museum. Talk about fun! This would be great for children and adults who want to do more than just look at things in a museum. Yes, at every exhibit I said "eureka". It's on my to-do list for my visit this coming June. If you've read any of my comments - I don't do repeat visits to museums willingly. I make an exception for the Duomo Museo in Florence, the Capitoline in Rome, the Vatican (but only on Friday evenings), and the Frari in Venice. I hope you enjoy this museum as much as those kids ahead of me and the adults behind me!
