After two weeks in Italy, my husband will be flying home from Venice, and I will be traveling on to Reutte in Austria by train. What is the best way to be from our hotel (near the Rialto Bridge) to the airport and train station? Would a water taxi be best--even though more expensive? Thanks!!

Take the vaporetto to the train station. Take the vaporetto to Piazzale Roma and then the # 5 ACTV bus to the airport.

The time of your husbands flight might get a different answer. The connecting flights from Venice tend to leave very early. Often before the buses are running.

His flight is actually 9:55--so this won't be a problem. We just don't have any experience at Marco Polo and didn't know how busy it was there. He's flying Mon., May 25th.

I flew out of Marco Polo last Oct and I remembered it was a busy area just for checking in. It was recommended to be there at least two hours before the flight. Marco Polo assigns your flight check in counter 2 hours prior to its departure. We basically walked into the center, looked up at the board for our flight and went to the counter assigned to it.
