From Rome to Orvieto

There are 4 of us needing to get from Rome to Orvieto and would like to know if there are private, reasonably priced van services that can be obtained from the Rome airport.

Is there a train we could take from the Rome Airport to Orvieto or would we have to go to central train station.

I welcome any other transfer suggestions you may have. We don't travel quite as light as Rick Steves does so we are trying to make this transfer as simple as possible.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi Didi--If you click on Rick's "Favorite Links" you can get to the Deutsch Bahn where you can put in Fiumicino Aeroporto to Orvieto and the day of the week you're needing. I found that you can probably catch a train with 1 change at Roma Tiburtina, taking 2 to 2-1/2 hours. Of course I don't know what time your flight is due to arrive--and hopefully it will be on time! Some of the trains require reservations but not all. Hope this helps. Sorry, I don't know about a van service--definitely out of my price range!

Thanks Darcy for the suggestion and the web site hint. We may actually end up using a service called Rocar that had a pretty reasonable rate for transferring us from Rome to Orvieto. Will post the rates once I receive a confirmation.
