When our plane lands in Naples, what is the best way to get to Sorrento . . bus or train? How do we get from the airport to the terminal (bus or train)?

From the airport, the easiest way will be the Curreri bus. It goes directly from the airport to Sorrento, so there's no need to go into Naples itself or to change modes of transit. There are 9 departure per day, it takes 1:15 and costs €10. For the schedule, go to http://www.curreriviaggi.it/inglese/E_index.html, choose the British flag for English, and choose "bus routes" near the top. It will say that Rome to Sorrento is not available, but Naples airport to Sorrento is available; click that link for information. If you want something more deluxe, the "Shuttle" link on the top shows that a private car for 1-3 people, from Naples airport to Sorrento, is €80; I don't know how that compares with other companies.
