We leave la spezia in the morning (visited cinque terra today) and we have 2 nights before we are booked into Florence. I'm looking for suggestions on how best to use the next 2 days and nights. We have a car. Is bagna di Lucca worth an overnight stay or a visit to experience the spas? We want to get back to the smaller towns and countryside after being with the crowds and city. We enjoyed the hot springs near Saturnia. Would be lovely to find more free hot springs too.
Suggestions welcome. We are traveling booking lodging as we go except for Florence.

Montecatini Terme?
Can get some spa treatments there, and also use as a base for Lucca, or Vinci (Leonardo's house and museum), Pistoia. Montecatini Alto on top of the hill, is quaint too.

Lucca is also very nice.
If you want to go small small town, Varese Ligure. It is 20 miles from La Spezia. It has been voted one of the Borghi piu Belli de Italia.

Thank you. Just to clarify we already went to Lucca and Pisa. I will look into the terme spa town you named and other tips. Still looking for responses if people have them.

Lyric and Portovenere are very nice. Drive to Greve and surrounding area and it is only a 30 minute drive into Florence. Great winery in Greve 'Castello Verrazano' where you can have a tour and a wonderful lunch.
