Can anyone tell me the best and economical way to do a tour of Pompeii, Amalfi Coast and Capri? Or would Sorrento be better than Capri? Some of what I've read are people have had pick pocket problems on the train and the bus can be quite full. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
Thank you most kindly for the detailed information. It sounds like I need to choose two locations. I think perhaps the coast tour and Pompeii. Then I can try to figure out where the bus station is in relation to the train station and the schedules.
I really appreciate your input.
Thank you.

"Best" and "most economical" do not always go together. You can try, but I doubt that there would be an organized tour including all these places. I have stayed in Sorrento and taken daytrips to the other places you mention. Bus from in front of the train station to the Amalfi Coast is inexpensive, but can be crowded; it's probably best to go early. (Buy tix at newsstand in the train station. Train to Pompeii; it is cheap and quick. Buy train tix in train station, upper level). Boat from the harbor below Sorrento (where the tix are sold) to Capri; fairly inexpensive, and you stay as long as you wish, since there are many ferries and the return ticket is purchased separately in Capri. Check with ETBD Italy book.
