Hello,
We are looking at traveling from Bolzano to Venice on June 14th. I gather that trenitalia is still loading the train schedules from June 10th onwards. Even knowing that, I am a bit confused about an option that involves two ECs connecting at Verona. It seems these are being run under OEBB. What's confusing is, when I go to the OEBB site, though the leg from Bolzano to Verona is available for reservation, the leg from Verona to Venice isn't. Just another quirk of an as yet unsettled post-June 10th train schedule or something else?
Thanks for any insights you might have!
You can buy tickets now for the EC 87 from Munich to Venice, and it stops in Bolzano, but Trenitalia will not show it yet. It is a conundrum and is related to the June 10 schedule change. The reason the schedules get delayed until the last minute is because government subsidies (read tax payer funds) are involved. I thought this was only for Regionali, but EC trains must be in on it too.
Hi Vishal,
Trenitalia is showing two afternoon departures on that route for 14 June, with both trains. If you want to leave Bolzano at 13:16 or later, youncould buy the ticket for both trains right now. If you want an earlier departure, it will probably show up later on.
Make sure you enter your destination at Venezia S.Lucia or you could end up in Mestre.
The Bolzano to Verona leg passes through Austria (it comes from Munich) which is why you can buy that portion on OeBB. The Verona to .Venice leg is all in Italy (it comes from Milan) and does not touch Austria, so OeBB will not sell you that, even if they show it on their schedule..
Just a thought: can you buy them from Deutsche Bahn? I think I see the trains you are looking at there. Worth a look?
You can't buy tickets from Deutsche Bahn for a single journey begins in Italy and ends in Italy.
On the TrenItalia site, it shows two trains, one at 13:16 and one at 17:13 for about €30. Most likely more trains will fill in as it gets closer to the 10 June schedule change.
Thanks all for your clarifying responses!
Yes, I am looking for the earlier than afternoon options and those have apparently not been filled in yet. I guess I just have to wait.
