Frog walking tour tipping

I'm taking a walking tour of Milan that is initially free. A tip is expected of course and I want to give a good one. The tour is through frog walking tours, has anyone done this tour and what did you give as a tip?

Not done that one but have done other show and go. An hour or so, 10 euro. A couple of hours or more and it is really good, perhaps 25 or 30 euro. If it is good, I would tip about what you would expect to pay for an established tour of that length. Nothing is free.

PS And don't be an ugly American by giving them US dollars. I have seen that happen.

Agree with other poster...same as in the US...The rule of thumb is 15-20% of the cost....these tours if they are a walking tour and paid tours are usually $55 -70 per person in major European cities...so two people at minumum $15 for two, want to be a champ $25-30. If everyone is doing this the guy is making out very well for two hours of work! I would not pay the full cost of a tour for two when it is positioned as a free tour...that is going way overboard..no matter how good it is!

As a solo traveler I've taken several walking tours run by city tourist offices. They lasted 90 minutes to 2 hours and cost about 10 euros (smaller city) to 20 euros (major city). I'd give 15 to 20 euros for a "free" walking tour that was informative. Based on what I've observed, walking tours priced above that level are either much longer, include a museum admission or are food-related with drinks and/or nibbles provided--which I don't think is ever the case with "free" tours.
