Friday or Saturday in Sienna?

We're taking a day trip from Florence to Sienna. The choices for Sienna are either Friday or Saturday. Any advice on which days are best for each city, as far as crowds go? (We will have 3 1/2 days in Florence besides the day to Sienna.) Thank you!

Any day spent in Siena will be fabulous! One of my favorite cities in Italy.

I have been in Siena on both days on different trips and I am not sure there is a difference.

Siena is a very popular day trip destination so it will be crowded most days. I spent a few nights in this beautiful city and was amazed at the daytime crowds. The early morning and evenings were special.

Have a wonderful trip!

Like other people have pointed out, Siena is a popular day trip destination, so it is likely crowded during the day on most days. What may make some difference for you is that there are more frequent buses (from Florence) on Fridays than on Saturdays for your trip. If you are an early riser, that may allow you to get in before the mass and enjoy the town in relative peace.

Siena is fabulous and worthy of more than a day trip but if that's all you have - better than no time in Siena! And time of year - there in May there were a fair amount of tourists. Hit the prosciutteria if you can - amazing place!!
