Are the crowds smaller at the Vatican Museums on Friday nights? Someone who has made the reservation and attended on Friday, please share your experience.
I've only ever been on a Friday night and it was pretty packed in my eyes. I've been told it's busier during the day. If that's true, I don't know how people even move.
We attended on a Friday night in May 2014. It seemed crowded when we entered, but people spread out. Doable!
It's much less crowded on Friday nights than it is during the day. They don't allow walk ups, you must buy tickets in advance. I've done the Friday nights a few times and each time I was able to easily find seats along the wall inside the Sistine chapel. I've spent about 45 minutes in the chapel each time with 50 people or less. During the day time the chapel is packed like sardines, with no room to move.
They don't do the Friday night visits during the winter months.
