Friday night Happy Hour at the Vatican

We are planning a Friday night visit to the Vatican,Oct 2. How is their Happy Hour buffet? When is the best time to book during our visit, first thing or later. I am not sure of the lay out of the museum and this event. Is the booking still 60 days out?

I must have missed this -- in 2012 we got tickets for Friday night hours at the Vatican Museums and just followed the crowd to the Sistine Chapel and Raphael Rooms but didn't see any buffet.

This is newer offering so not many people have done it. I've seen it but not partaken. I don't know that I would waste the time since you only have a few hours in the evening to visit the museums.

William, I think it depends on whether Pope Francis is in town and available. If he is, he'll often stop by and bring some extra snacks, Argentine stuff usually, empanadas, little steak skewers, that kind of thing. He's a lot of fun, so the evening is too. But if the Pope is away or otherwise committed, then it's just your everyday ole Vatican Happy Hour.

Very funny, Larry.
William, I hope you report back to others on your experience--whether with or without the Pope.

I did a night tour in May and didn't see anything like this. I agree with others that your time is very limited, and I would take advantage of the museum offerings rather than any extras.

This "happy hour" is only on Friday nights when the museums are open to the public.

More happy hour questions: Do they have any drink specials? Perhaps a flight of different sacramental wine vintages?

William,
If the Pope drops in during your Happy Hour visit (pardon to all the selfie haters), but you will absolutely HAVE to take a selfie with him :)
