we will need transportation from the train Station in Como to Bellagio Uber is very expensive , over $200, I heard FreeNow mentioned on more than one travel vlogs but it seems to get mixed reviews in the Google Play Store and Reddit, I know it's not the app but the taxi drivers, so I guess my question is have anyone used FreeNow and the larger taxi 's in the Como area ?

we are staying in bellagio and we'll have luggage etc and arriving early afternoon so it'll just be easier to take a cab or an uber to our place. Oh well it is what it is, we're vacation LOL
I presume you arrive at the Como San Giovanni station.
Besides the ferry or the hydrofoil, which however depart from the Ferry pier below near the Como Lago station:

You can also take the bus C30 which departs from the Como San Giovanni station (stop is in front, across the street) but also passes by the Como Lago station. The bus journey is 40+ minutes and costs about 5€ per person (click on C30 to download schedule in PDF)

200€ is a bit excessive, but given the distance (about 45 minutes) a taxi will be certainly around 130+ euro.
My mom and I took the C30 bus to/from Como from/to Bellagio one drizzly day while staying in Varenna years ago.
The bus was comfortable and efficient, and the views of the lake from way above are magnificent!
If you decide to take the bus to Bellagio, sit on the left side for best views.

Buses are very comfortable in Italy and a great way to get around, Uber is not readily used. The Official taxis are white .
I have used Free Now in Europe but not in Italy. The Ferry and Buses in Lake Como are recommended.

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS FREENOW APP! In the way from a hotel within Rome city limits (3 metro stations from Roma Termini) to the Fumicino airport at 7:30 am, we chose Taxi Go option. Their Taxi Go option is when you have the maximum fare (here was 88 euro) but will pay the meter if its lower than the maximum noted. The taxi meter was 68 euros, + 3 euro app fee apparently equals to 87 euro instead of 71 euro. Tje driver also noted the trip duration as 1 hour when in fact is was 30 minutes. Their customer service is useless: they said we were charged correctly because they don't have access to taxi meters (sarcasm: really? You dont?) The taxi drivers enter the amount for the taxi fare into the app system MANUALLY! they can enter whatever they want. In almost identical situation with Uber in Milan October 2025, Uber quickly refunded the wrong amount and the scamming taxi driver got nothing. Book with Uber, because they support customers or flag down a taxi in the street (worked for us very nicely). The FreeNow app is SUPPORTING SCAMING TAXI DRIVERS INSTEAD OF THEIR CUSTOMERS AND IS NOT READY TO SUPPORT THE CUSTOMERS. STAY AWAY FROM THIS APP!!!

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Call a taxi, or even better have the hotel desk call one for you. Fixed fare is 55€
