Hi we have free wifi at hotels, this is what I have based my bookings on but! I may want to while out and about. Do they have a place for free wi-fi without using their computers? Like in Seattle, Starbucks has free wifi?
Any actual suggestions?

I doubt that you'll find any place with free wifi that doesn't require you to register. It's Italian law that you must register your personal information to use the internet for terrorism reasons. I don't know of any place in Rome where you can just open your laptop and connect like at a Starbucks. Perhaps others know of some places that make it simple but I don't. Sorry. Donna

They've repealed that law that requires registration for internet access. We were at quite a few places last May that would just give us the password if we ordered something to eat or drink, no matter how small, with no registration requirements. Just keep your eyes peeled or ask around. Some places (restaurants, bars) do advertise Wifi, but they charge for it.
