I have read on previous posts that there is some free parking in Siena, I believe along some streets east of the Stadium and possibly a parking lot in that area too. We will be arriving about the 2nd week of October but have not booked our hotel yet and hope to do so on the day we arrive. Any help with free or cheap parking will be greatly appreciated.
With or without hotel?
I'm sorry if my answer seems brusque, but "free" parking in Siena? That would likely be on a roadside some distance from town. Unless I'm missing something from your question.
Gary, I was in Siena a few months ago, and not aware of any "free parking", unless it's provided by a Hotel. In fact, the person I was riding with (who lives in Italy and is very familiar with the area) had to borrow some "coin" for the parking meter!
I drove to Siena last night, there is a ton of parking you just have to drive around to find an empty spot. We found a lot at 6pm on a Saturday night that was free and was about a 15 minute walk to el compo
Thanks, I've revised my question.
There is indeed a parking lot that offers free parking. It is directly across the valley from San Domenico. We were fortunate enough to find parking there for 5 five nights in a row whenever we returned from our day trips. Parking is tight but it was free.
Thanks everyone.
A few days ago we were able to park for free west of the stadium. Just drive around to find a space that does not charge and does not have a time limit. We were parked there from about 10 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. The place we parked was a dead-end street next to a sports complex. It was a short walk into town.
We parked in a marked public parking lot near the stadium. With many horror stories about Siena, we felt that was the best (but not cheapest) bet. When you find a hotel, ask them for the best choice.
