I am going to Germany for business and decided to stop and visit family in Italy. Due to a mix up I will have 24 hours free in Milan. Any ideas what to do?
These are some of the popular sights:
DuomoGalleria Vittorio EmanueleLeonoardo's Last Supper (requires advance reservations)La Scale Opera House and MuseumBrera Art GallerySforza Castle
I second the Pinacoteca di Brera if you are into art, a great painting collection - and the Duomo and square, etc. Here is what I did on a day in Milan: http://www.florence-on-line.com/further-afield/day-trip-to-milan.html
I also wouldn't miss a few minutes at the train station - it is an amazing piece of architecture.
When you visit the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele make sure you find the ceramic bull on the floor and spin on his testicles for good luck. It is an old Milanese custom. I do it every time I am in Milano.
Buon viaggio,
RB
Thanks all. I think the best way to see everythng might be to do the hop on hop off tours. Seeing I will be just off the plane from a flight originating from the US west coast, bus might be the best way to go.
I wil probably see the train station when I hop the train down to Genoa to visit my family.
Molte grazie per vostri suggerimenti.
