Kathy…quick question.
Our entire family of 12 will be visiting Rome in late November. I am going to purchase a Full Experience with Entry to the Arena Coliseum ticket for my son-in-law. He will have our 5 year old granddaughter with him. My understanding is that I also “purchase” a Free Admission Under 18 ticket for our granddaughter at the same time as I purchase his adult ticket…is this correct? If so, how do we get this free ticket? Does he just show his adult ticket and take her through the security line with him? Is there then a place after security to pickup her ticket…or does he need to pick up her ticket someplace before security?
I have bought so many Coliseum tickets over the years, but never a child’s ticket so I want to make sure I am doing it correctly. I will probably not be going with them that day, so I want to give him the correct instructions.
Hi there -
OK, this is what the Parco website states regarding free tickets for anything but the 24 hr. standard-entry ticket:
https://colosseo.it/en/2023/04/free-tickets/
"If you choose the ‘Full Experience’ or ‘Domus Aurea’ tickets, it will be necessary to reserve the free ticket at the time of purchase.....Please note that Full Experience Arena and Underground tickets and Full Experience Attic tickets still require online booking as there is a quota of admission."
So you are wanting this ticket for your SIL and wee granddaughter, right? Note they they're only sold 7 days in advance.
https://ticketing.colosseo.it/en/eventi/full-experience/
Enter "2" the "Number of Participants" box
Choose a date with tickets remaining
Choose a time slot with openings remaining
Under "Add tickets to cart" choose 1 "Full Price" and 1 "Free Admission Under 18"
Continue to checkout.
So both your SIL and wee GD will have a ticket/reservation; they should join the security line at the entrance with the tickets and their passports.
After security, your SIL either should be able to collect her free ticket at the cash desk inside OR he may not even need to do that. I would just ask one of the staff members posted around the area if her reservation is enough to skip the desk or not.. Does this help?
Our entire family of 12 will be visiting Rome....
My goodness, what an adventure that's going to be! :O)
Kathy…yes, your response is very helpful! Thank you so much!
It confirms exactly what I was planning to do. My only question was whether my SIL had to get my granddaughter’s free ticket before or after security…or if he even needed to do that at all. I will tell him to just go through the security line…I am hopeful that they will tell him if he has to do anything else.
Yes…12 people! 10 adults and 2 children (5 and 2) from Ohio, Virginia, Utah, Colorado, and Oxford, England.
My husband and I are hosting everyone for 8 days in Rome…something we have wanted to do for a long time. I am doing all the planning and ticket buying as I am familiar with everything…having done it many times before. But, boy is it not easy to get everyone’s preferences and then try to get the dates to work!
Fingers crossed all goes as smoothly as possible.
