Frecciargento reservations day of train?

I am flying into Rome and hope to take the Frecciargento directly to Venice. I have a Eurrail pass so I just need to make a reservation. I have been unable to do that online because Eurrail (the only place I have found that will let me purchase only a reservation as opposed to a ticket and reservation) requires that they mail a ticket to me , but I am leaving in only a few days and won't get it in time. My question is: is it possible to make a reservation for the Frecciargento within a few hours of the train's departure (i.e. once I land in Rome and get to Termini station)? Any other advice would be welcome as well. Thanks!

Yes, should be able to make a reservation at the ticket office at the airport when you get your ticket for the Leonard Express.

Great! Thanks, Frank. Would you recommend taking the Leonard Express or cabbing it to Termini?

The L Express. It is 14E against 40E for the cab. The LE deposits you inside Termini. And, no, your pass will not work on the LE if you have a second class pass. A first class pass is accepted.

Yep, I know I can't use the pass on in-the-city transportation. I am traveling with others, so the Leonardo would actually cost more. It definitely sounds more convenient, though. Thanks, again.

The L Express is NOT a part of the in city transportation. It is part of the Trenitalia rail system. It views itself as a one class service - first class which is why a second class pass will not work and a first class does.

You don't have to take the L. Express into Termini. You can take the 30 minute regional train to either Roma Trastevere or Roma Ostiense, then jump on another regional headed to Termini. Once at Termini, you can make your reservation to Venice, though you may not get the time you want (if the seats are sold out). At Termini, use the Fast Ticket machines and choose "Global Pass" to make your seat reservations. Seat reservations are 10 euros each. Don't waste your time in line! Have fun! :)

I suggest you to make your reservations with assistance of the machine in the airport, not at Roma Termini. On the Fiumicino Aeroporto station you have national ticketing machines that allow you to make such reservations. Don't go after regional trains to reach Roma Termini if you are travelling around peak time. They have no space for much luggage and can be delayed.
