FrecciaLink Florence - Perugia

One of the options that appears on Trenitalia website is "Freccialink", which I read is a combination of train from Florence... to some station somewhere. Then bus meets train & you continue on to in front of Perugia Train station on the bus.
Has anyone ever tried Freccialink? How was it? Any problems with bus being on time to meet the train.
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks,
SS

I take FrecciaLink between Salerno and Matera every year. On that route, it's a small bus (14 or so passengers). That journey is three+ hours, with a rest break for about ten minutes; the driver distributes bottled water at the beginning.

Very comfortable and reliable. I think the buses are timed to meet the trains, with less than 20 minutes' wait on the route that I take.

FrecciaLink is designed to link certain cities not served by Freccia trains (e.g. Perugia) with cities served by Freccia trains (e.g. Florence). I'm uncertain whether the FrecciaLink segment can be purchased separately or must be purchased as a supplement to a Freccia ticket. Hopefully someone else will know. In the case of Florence SMN to Perugia, a small bus is used that goes directly from SMN to the station in Perugia. It's departure would be timed to coordinate with certain Freccia trains arriving in Florence.

The FrecciaLink ticket can be purchased on its own.
