FrecciaBianca seating

I booked a reservation today from LaSpezia to Rome 1st class on the FrecciaBianca vIa the Trentalia website. I choose automatic seat assignment so when the screen came up it showed seat 8a and 9a, coach 1 window. When I went through the purchase the final screen came up (detached window). I don't know what that means. Can someone tell me if that means I have window seats? If not how do I go about changing my seats? My tickets are super ecomony so non refundable. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you Lisa

Detached window means you have seats that are separate from other travelers. There are two seats abreast (attached) on one side of the aisle, and one on the other. See the picture of first class here. You and your husband are probably facing each other across a table on the detached side. I say "probably" because sometimes the seats are one behind the other. If you do not like your seats when you get on, ask the capotreno (conductor) if you can switch. We've done this when we get stuck one behind the other.

Thank you Laurel for the reply. I went online and tried to book it again and it looks like what you said, were behind each other. Is there a way to change my seats now instead of waiting? I'm afraid it may get full and not have the option. Sure wish I had picked my seats but I was having so many problems with the purchase.

Any ideas?

Hi lisa. Seats 8a and 9a sound like window seats to me. Row 8 by window, and Row 9 by window. Also, for context, 2/3 of all the seats in first class are window seats, and there are likely to be many empty seats in your car. Your assigned seats are probably already good window seats. If not, just switch to an empty seat. Enjoy your trip!

I agree with Bob about just switching seats, especially when first class will probably have lots of empty seats. This past week I've taken FrecciaBianca trains several times from LaSpezia north and south and sometimes people were in my seat and I just moved somewhere else. And 75% of the time on all my train journeys, no conductor checked my ticket.

Lisa, There is no way to change them now. Wait until you are on the train and don't worry! Worst thing that could happen is you'd have to sit in the dining car and drink some wine!

Looks like you're on the right track with the advice above. Buon viaggio!
