Ciao, Can anyone please tell me the difference between a "base" 1st class seat and an "economy" 1st class seat on the Frecce trains? We have two families traveling with 5 children (8 and under) from Roma to Santa Margherita Ligure. Grazie! Mary

Hi Mary. It's the same seat, just a different fare type. The 'base' type is more expensive, but a little easier to exchange if needed. See the explanations on trenitalia.com. Enjoy your trip!

The base fare is full price, has the most flexibility for changes/cancellations (sometimes until just hours before departure time). Economy fare has some restrictions on how much time you have to make changes.
