We're arriving in Frankfurt August 6 - would like to travel to Florence August 7. Need recommendations for mode of travel and lodging near the usual sights. Intend to leave Florence and arrive in Venice on August 9.

Fly from Frankfurt to Florence non-stop. Lufthansa currently has 3 flights a day

Lufthansa actually flies 4 daily pairs in winter (not 3) and 5 to 6 in summer.

Thanks, we booked Lufthansa. We have Rick's Pocket Florence - any place better than another for lodging?

Many lodging choices, but I know this one and I can recommend. I think it’s in Rick Steves’ list as well

It’s midrange on a great location with a rooftop bar with an unparalleled view.
But there are plenty of other choices. It depends on your budget too.

Regarding air travel, I just noted you arrive in Frankfurt one day and flying to Florence the next. Wouldn’t be better to do all in one ticket? Why did you buy those legs separately?

Stayed at Hotel California (yes, that's really the name) and were well pleased. Could walk to everything we wanted to see.

Thanks for the hotel recommendations.
We used miles to get to Frankfurt and thought we'd be too tired to move on to Florence on the same date. Lufthansa flight was so convenient that we're now travelling to Florence the same day.
