We are four adults traveling to Italy for the first time. We plan to fly into Venice in September and fly out of Rome two weeks later. We know that rental cars in Venice are not practical, but want to rent one after our two day stay there. Our tentative itinerary is as follows:
Venice, 2 days
Verona, 1 day
Villa in Bagnone, 7 days (day trips from there)
Sienna, 1.5 days
Rome 1.5 days
We plan to return again in the future where we will spend more time in Rome and southern Italy.
What is suggested for a rental car? The driver is about 6'3" and the rest 5'4" to 5'9".
Any input would be welcomed.
Thank you.
We traveled with 4 adults last year. We rented a Ford C-Max from Hertz, which was big enough for 4, plus our luggage. The Venice airport car rental was easy to deal with. Driving in Rome is pretty bad. Maybe drop the car in Siena or Orvieto and then taking a train into Rome?
Thanks Becki !
Dropping the car off in Sienna I still a great idea.
