Forum of Caesar/Forum of Augustus

Last night we had the pleasure of touring the Forum of Caesar, open this year for the very first time with an incredible multi-media audio-guided tour. I highly recommend this as a way to pass a lovely evening after a hot day in Rome. See Viaggio Nei Fori website here. It continues thru Nov `1.

In conjunction there is also a multi-media show -- this one stationery in bleachers -- at Augustus' Forum. It was presented last year to recognize the 2000th anniversary of his death. It too, is excellent.

It seems that that is the way forward in Rome. The Domus we went to in March was similar and absolutely fab.

I bought online a few days in advance. I highly recommend you do so too. Space is very limited. If there is a rain out, you will get a refund. That happened to us last year.

Thanks for the tip! I just ordered tickets for the Forum of Augustus show for my grandson and me next week.

[Edit May 29] Thanks again for the tip. We enjoyed the show last night -- intelligent, educational and beautifully produced. Well worth it.

By the way, Via dei Fori Imperiali is torn up for construction of the Metro C line. Pedestrians are squeezed by fences into narrow walkways on the sides of the road. High temporary walls limit the view. With such little space for walking, you have no choice but to be up-close and personal with the selfie-stick sellers.

Via dei Fori Imperiali has been a mess at the Colosseo end for quite some time. Metro C is proving a ridiculous challenge to build through the historic center.

Glad you enjoyed the show!

Qiurite, It is not the pleasant walk it once was. But you are right: you can still look into the fori at the west end and the new lighting is nice.

Quirite, what will the grandstands on either side of Via dei Fori at Via Cavour be used for? I'm not referring to the seating for the Forum of Augustus show, only facing north, away from the street. The ones I'm asking about face Via dei Fori on both sides
